Term 4!

Welcome back to Term 4!

It's a very exciting time in the Learning Lions right now. We have worked so hard for three terms and we have started to see some amazing progress in our reading, writing and maths. This term we look forward to building on that success and a few fun things that are coming up around the corner (I won't spoil the surprises just yet though....).

In the first few days back we have done some wonderful work. See this incredible work done by some students (if you look closely you can see their names). They had to make numbers using popsicle sticks. Not only did they do this work, but they took the pictures and made the collages themselves, using the class iPads. Well done!

Vote to Help Us Win Some Cool Prizes!

Rowandale School is in a competition to win some cool cooking-related prizes. To win, we have to get more votes than other schools that have about the same number of students as we do.  To help us click on this link: http://letscookwithparmco.co.nz/class-of-2013?name=rowandale&regionId=&categoryId= and go to Rowandale Primary School. It only takes about 2 or 3 minutes to vote and you can vote once for each email address that you have. You could also win a trip to Fiji just for voting!

Isn't that exciting?

So if you have an email address and time, please vote for us and help us win some cool prizes!

Thanks in advance!

Coconut Treats!

Recently we made some coconut treats in class. We used a lot of our Habits of Mind. Read below and see the pictures.

First we had to use PERSISTENCE to crush the biscuits. This took a LONG time.

See? We're still going.

Then we had to STOP AND THINK so we didn't put in too much coconut.

Next we had to MAKE IT RIGHT by putting enough condensed milk in so everything stuck together.

We had to WORK WITH OTHERS to take turns mixing it up.

WOW! We made yummy snacks!

Lord of the Jungles: Return of the (Lion) King

It is with great pleasure that I announce the return of Leonard. Apparently, after disappearing a few months ago, Leonard took off to visit the North Island of New Zealand. Luckily, he managed to get some people to take some pictures of him.  See where he's been below:

Packing up the car before he left.

Driving on a nice, sunny day.

Visiting the caves in Waitomo.

Some carvings in Wanganui.

Looking over the Wanganui River.

I wonder which one I should try to catch?

A statue of a great lion!

Looks delicious...

Troll!

Wow! Look at all the seals.

The Parliament Buildings in Wellington.

Pirahnas.  Even I don't want to swim with them.

Leonard and Mr Mac.  Wait. That's not him!

Mt Ruapehu from Taupo. Beautiful!

Anyone want some honey?

Relaxing at a movie after a long trip.
